Overview
Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university known for journalism and communication, launched the Artificial Intelligence Initiative (AI²) in 2024 as a flagship strategic initiative.
AI² looks at AI from the media and society side: research on deepfakes, misinformation and strategic communication, and on the cultural implications of machine learning in media. It also runs professional development for faculty and industry, and is developing a joint media and AI study programme with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar.
