Overview
The Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) was established by Qatar Foundation in 2010 and operates as part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) in Education City, Doha. Its mission is to carry out multidisciplinary, applied computing research that addresses Qatar's national priorities.
QCRI is best known internationally for its work on Arabic language technologies, and it is at the centre of Qatar's sovereign AI effort, including Fanar, an Arabic-centric generative AI model. Its Qatar Center for Artificial Intelligence (QCAI) works across the full AI stack, from data and model development to reasoning and decision-making, with a focus on precision medicine and AI for social good.
