Iraq's College of AI Engineering at Baghdad's University of Technology, opened in 2025 with departments in intelligent robotics, control and cognitive systems.
Overview
The University of Technology in Baghdad is one of Iraq's largest universities, specialising in engineering, computer science and applied sciences. In September 2025 Iraq's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research inaugurated its new College of Artificial Intelligence Engineering, part of a national push that opened ten AI-focused colleges across public and private universities.
The college has four specialised departments: Intelligent Control Engineering, Intelligent Robotics Engineering, Intelligent Computing Systems and Cybersecurity Engineering, and Cognitive Systems Engineering. The university's College of Computer Science also has a long-standing Artificial Intelligence department.
