Hadi Ataei is an AI educator and engineer who writes about artificial intelligence, machine learning and AI education for Qatar AI Institute, from plain-language explainers of how models like transformers and BERT work to reviews of new AI research and daily coverage of major AI developments.

He has taught graduate-level courses in data science, natural language processing, computer vision, robotics, and the design and analysis of algorithms at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and Bowie State University, and was previously a Teaching Fellow at Columbia University in New York.

In industry, he has worked as a principal systems and software engineer at MITRE, Boeing, Tata and Cognizant.

He holds a master's degree in computer engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
